I not listen to techno to much (because I do TV) but I listen to this. This guy has talent. I dont like disco sounding comp/pump crap but his stuff is top quality of that genre. The only problem I see with this Deadmouse guy is his handlers. Too big to fast means you disappear real fast in techno, no staying power. He needs to pull back and not let money men use him up in 2 years then to be thrown away to the side.

imo

He came, he saw, he conquered......

Now he'll probably fade into classic house CD's and take his position in history along with 2Unlimited and the rest of the "Made it too big to be openly enjoyed" crew.

Having said this I would love to be a victim of my own success... Especially if it was on the same level as deadmuff

People like what they like, but he brings nothing new to the table except a stupid gimmicky mask. He's just a buzz word in the 18 year old 'cool' calendar right now, I doubt that if he faded into oblivion many people would remember him in 5 years.

For me, overrated, I hear dozens of better tunes on here in the link your music section every week, people who deserve far more success really.

In a club, almost anything with a pumping bass and 4 on the floor sounds cool. That would mean, literally tens of thousands of tracks every year sounding cool ....

Out of curiosity and his being named one of the years best at WMC... I bought his CD. Yes, plastic. I rarely do that anymore. I'm not particularly impressed but probably because dance music is not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I'm happy that he's successful. At least it's a genuine, grass roots phenomenon.

On the other side of the spectrum is... the synthetic, pre-processed American Idle side of the music industry. Where the suits on Madison Ave. decide whats "cool", who's hot, and who's not. In fact, I'll go as far as to say that "electronic" music(the entire spectrum) is the only genuine flavor of the artform that remains. It's the only musical style where (only)the sound dominates. In Hip Hop, Pop and Rock, it's the visual, the bling, that carries the tune. It's mostly about "image".

Hummm... nah I don't think he will fade away.

What he produces doesn't appeal to me. But it is accessible music and that's why people like him.
He is also quite good live. Very good technically. Again, I do not like everything he does live -
like overusing effects - but I can see why people like him.

He was smart enough to create an image for himself, with the mask and all.

I think over the years, he will mature. He will probably drop the mask at some point, and even the name.
But I don't think he will fade away.

Well, that's what I think anyways...

Yes, ALL the publicity he gets here, I'm sure he does these threads hiumself or someone on his PR team.

Which I am feeding by dissing him, because there's no such thing as bad publicity ....

Getting rid of the Masks was almost commercial suicide for Kiss, so he'd better get used to it. Smart or Gimmicky sellout ?? You decide ....
