Hi swimsuit,
it depends probably on the model because Sony offers so much different notebooks.
We had some good experiences with an older Sony Vaio ZEK600 (subnotebook, 12,2", 700Mhz PIII) and also with an Vaio FX 601 (1Ghz Duron).
But I know a user who has some problems with his VAIO but it's not clear if the Vaio, Live or something else is the problem.
So if you have the chance to test the model before buying you should do it.
regards,
Alex

live on sony vaio
hi swimsuit,
i bought a vaio recently (gp 316 or something like that.. 1.6 Ghz p4 mobile, 256 Ram, 20 gig HD) and it runs like hell. i don´t remind the exact results of the live-benchmark here in the board, but it´s faster than the TiBoooks. With live, I had no stability problems.

Crash?
i've worked with VAIO, NO PROBLEMS...
i run live on a gateway 600 + plug ins + midi controling, NO PROBLEMS , NO CRASHING...
so i guess if you get a VAIO and you have a good configuration, it should work well... it depends a lot on how your system is configured.
i've tried LIVE on several Win/Laptops and
it works JUST FINE!...

Do you have any special config tips or do you follow those listed on sites such as http://www.musicxp.net/ and the like? And you have no problems with dropouts and such?
The new 16" one is smokin', I just tried it with Live and Logic at a store here.

Tried this today and it just smashes everything else to pieces.
The thing to get if you're into LIve or Logic, in my view.
I've got one question though: Do you people think that the "out of the box" install of the OS (XP) will be sufficient if you dump all the garbage that comes with it (Messenger etc). Or can one make some serious mistakes when erasing the system and installing from the ground up?
Thanx
