2.0b2 bugs

Post by Maxim » Mon Dec 16, 2002 3:27 pm

- Assigning keys to scenes doesn't work anymore. Pressing the key starts Live but doesn't start the clips in the scene.
- Transpose knob is okay now but it sounds as if beats are not transposed in time. They need a little time to get it sync. Didn't get this behaviour with 1.5
- CPU load is still not the same as in 1.5. On my Powerbook 1Ghz I get 2% in live 1.5 and 3% in 2.0b2 while live is not playing and the set is empty.

Another one: Crashes (on XP) when loading a set while the audio interface (M-Audio Quattro) is unplugged or set to MME.

just want to know if im the only person experiencing these problems

1- when you move the end warp marker of a clip, you cannot change the original bpm with :2 *2...
2- when loaded.. single shot clips(ie. snare shot, or drum kick) does not show a number at the warp marker end point but it shows a empty green box, which makes it off when looping.. i can fix it manualy by first pressing the *2 button, clicking the -2- warp marker to turn it green, clicking the empty warp marker to turn it off, moving my -2- warp marker to the end of the loop, and changing the end of my end point to the -2- warp marker...

anyone else?

Had some bugs I wanted to share as well, but than noticed this in the 'how to report a bug ' from Ableton :
Please send all bug reports to [email protected]. Please do not use any other email address, the forum or other means of contact to report a bug.
... not sure how to interpret it ....

I'd say people should do both.. email and post on a forum...
would save people allot of time knowing what possible bugs are out there so repeat email wont have to be sent.. or at least a frequent update on known bugs... even so, a post/forum is very necessary for beta testing so we can have some sort of online communication.. i think they really ment for everyone to send an email to [email protected] no matter what so they know if a bug is really a bug by seeing it repeat in multiple systems, not just someones hardware issue...

so please post it... and email it.. so we can all see whats going on...

[A]

Advised this bug earlier in first beta - still doesn't work in beta2

1/load clip eg. in track 1
2/arm new clip in track2 for resampling master out
3/trigger both eg. through scene
4/check in editscreen if e'thing has been recorded ('do you see a waveform')
5/now try to playback the new recorded clip
6/NO SOUND OUTPUT ... (could replicate this always) ... but it has been recorded! (Doublechecked wave in Soundforge )
7/now twiggle the gainbutton a bit
8/SOUND OUTPUT is back...

Running win2000pro in st audio dsp24mk2

Also what happens now is :

1/load clip eg. in track 1
2/arm new clip in track2 for resampling master out (in-type)
3/trigger both eg. through scen1
4/Stop recording with master stop button
5/ Stop all clips eg. with "stop all clips button"

Observation : you can't 'de-activate' back to arrangement button . Only way to de-activate is by putting 'in type' to other type

[C]
When Live is not maximised and the edit/efx screen at the bottom is up you can't use the "clips' screen - in 1.5.2 you have a scrollbar that allows scrolling through the trax/scenes , in v2.0b1+2 you only see 1/2 track and no way to scroll up/down/left/right

[D]
'Flimsy' shaky transpose button was resolved in 2.0b2 -

[E]
Found following strange behaviour :

1/Load Demo arrangement
2/Play demo arrangement from the start
3/Observation : CPU loads are as in Live 1.5.2 (using win2000pro St AUdio DSP24MK2) - even better !
[in my case - position 0 = 2% Position 17 = 13%]

But if i put song start marker directly on position 17 - cpu loads jumps to 42-43% and stays there ....

I seem to have lost the Notch and Bandpass filter modes.
Anyone else?

I didn't read the release notes in the sticky post about 2.02b. No Bandpass or Notch. Welcome to the club. :-p

Still can't record a clip and get it to play in os x. rewire either. basically the problem is that it records but when you hit play on the clip just recorded it crashes Live.

Hello all,

like Yon mentioned before it's good to send mails and also to post, but you should open a new thread for each problem. It's really hard to navigate through the forum having a thread with so many posts.

regards,
Alex
