MP3's Corrupt or not licensed ?
Hi guys, just noticed that a lot of MP3's, all bought from beatport, in 1 folder to play with Serato won't import anymore in Ableton due to corrupt or unlicensed.
Anything about it ? I know that Serato builds the overviews and writes a little information in the MP3 itself but never had it in Live7 (which is uninstalled atm).

That's weird. Stuff from Beatport doesn't include any DRM whatsoever. Must be something else.

You're going to have to wait for the Serato/Ableton collaboration release some time in Q2 2010. This is just the first step. Get excited!

You might ttry using some cheap audio file converter (like itunes) and just select the tracks and make MP3's out of them, even though they are already MP3's...they may take a hit in quality, you'll just have to see, but it's likely that whatever is built in to the original file may go away in the new MP3 you make, and if it doesn't just toss out the new one, no harm/foul.

I was having the same problem today. Other mp3's read fine but not Beatport. I emailed their tech support to see if anyone else has reported the issue to them.
Now I did do a system restore recently, so that might have something to do with it.
On edit: I'm not using serato...only Live at the mo.

just a thought: have you apple quicktime installed on your system? if not, install it and try to open the files again.

Yes, I've had the exact same problem.
ABleton support suggested installing the latest quicktime version and this sorted it all out. Everything works fine for me, now.

Worked for me too. Maybe it has something to do with the artwork included with the file?

nope, it has nothing to do with the artwork, why should it?m_neptune wrote: Worked for me too. Maybe it has something to do with the artwork included with the file?
if you haven´t quicktime installed on your pc, ableton live uses windows direct show for decoding the mp3s. apparently it fails sometimes.
Re: MP3's Corrupt or not licensed ?
I feel bad for bumping this really old thread, but I have been having the same issue from beatport mp3s in win7 x64, and i would much rather not have quicktime installed. Installing quicktime does resolve the issue, anyone have any other suggestions?

i have it for mp4/m4a. live and others (traktor) need quicktime for it (while windows doesn't to play them back ordinarily). not for mp3s, though. you sure they're mp3s?inf0c0m wrote:I feel bad for bumping this really old thread, but I have been having the same issue from beatport mp3s in win7 x64, and i would much rather not have quicktime installed.
