Hi,
I own the edu version of Live 7 and use it on my Macbook Pro. However, recently I aquired an Acer Aspire One netbook. I installed Live 7 on it and although it did work, it ran a bit slow. So, I thought, maybe I could use an older version. My question is: As an owner of Live 7 am I allowed to run Live 4 on a separate computer (as long as I don't run them at the same time of course)? And if yes, how do I unlock it?

hmm. better send them a mail to support.
However I don't believe that you would be able to unlock live4 with your live7 serial. I got a new serial with each version that I upgraded. Got live4 on my old ibook and but never use it, hehe.

If you own Live 4? Sure you can; just use your Live 4 serial number.
If you never owned it? No. Owning one version doesn't allow you to download and use earlier versions unless you have a license for the older version.
