Turning Stereo into two channels....(easy question)

Post by Felon » Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:31 pm

Bonjour all.

I think this is right....

I have a simple io2 usb sound card. It has a stereo output. I can configure Live to put master on the left and cue on the right. Just testing it into my sound system and headphones, it plays either only on the left for master, and only on the right for cue in my headphones.

If i simply get some mono jacks, will it solve this issue.

Cheers guys, lovin' your work.

Am I undrsatnding you right? "You want Mono?"

have you tried the Preferences in Live and set up the "Output Configure"

I use the M-Audio Fast Track Pro (same price range) and with this sound card it gives me the option to enable 1+2 and 3+4

I set the Master to 1+2 and my cue to 3+4 in the I/O

If I'm missing the point of your question sorry I dont know about Mono jacks, but I thought I'd chime in and see if this helps.

Peace

Alex

Yeah.

The eventual plan is a new sound card such as the one you mentioned.
But currently i have a simple Alesis io2 device and am just trying to achieve a way of playing and cueing together.

Thanks for your input.

hi Felon,

Bad news i'm afraid. It's not possible to do what you are asking. You could buy cables that are mono to stereo, or adapters etc This will not give you true stereo however as you will just have the cue playing the left side twice and the master playing the right side twice. Whilst you are waiting for the new sound card though it is a work around.
