Got the plat yesterday - gotta say, this is so much fun once you're familiar with the controls. Best game ever (after Fallout 3!).

Funny I got BioShock yesterday and was thinking the same thing

I just beat Fallout3 and Mirrors Edge within 2 weeks!
No sleep at all!
I didn't think Fallout 3 deserved Game of the Year.

I've just traded in 'Afro Samurai' for the much-hyped Fallout 3. Was going to get Red Alert 3, but FO3 was about £15 cheaper...! LMFAO.
Afro was FAR too hard for my liking; it stopped being fun after about six hours of massive frustration.
As soon as the in-laws leave tonight, that PS3 is going on and the Fallout begins...

bump for thread renaming edit, YOU DIRTY APES, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL
Re: OT - RE5: RENAMED to official (enough) vidya game threddddd
Well now that this thread is open season, I reported that I was going to be hooking up my PS3 to a projector which would totally kick ass but after trying several different cable adaptors (projector only has RCA and VGA in) I can't get the thing to display a picture on the projector. After doing some internet research the only thing I can find that says it will work is some HDMI to VGA adaptor that is $150-$200. WTF?? Some kind of weird analog to digital signal conversion thing. My DVD player and MBP work just fine on it. Why the Hell can a 20-year-old television get PS3 video but not a 2-year-old protector? Anybody have any experience with this?

HDCP (Blu-ray copyright "protection") is something you can thank Sony for.beats me wrote:Well now that this thread is open season, I reported that I was going to be hooking up my PS3 to a projector which would totally kick ass but after trying several different cable adaptors (projector only has RCA and VGA in) I can't get the thing to display a picture on the projector. No HDCP support? No HD! Even though HDMI is almost the same as DVI. If it weren't for HDCP, the PS3 would run on anything.

Well isn't that a load of bullshit. But also my Apple TV won't get a picture either using the same conversion cables I was trying with the PS3. One of the reasons I got the PS3 is because I thought I'd also want to watch blue-ray but I have yet to do that. I've determined my eyes are fine with old school standards, not to mention just about everything I watch now is some kind of download or computer file.hoffman2k wrote:HDCP (Blu-ray copyright "protection") is something you can thank Sony for.beats me wrote:Well now that this thread is open season, I reported that I was going to be hooking up my PS3 to a projector which would totally kick ass but after trying several different cable adaptors (projector only has RCA and VGA in) I can't get the thing to display a picture on the projector. With this said, are you saying I should have no issues with an xbox or wii even though no signal from the ps3 or apple TV?
Re: OT - RE5: RENAMED to official (enough) vidya game threddddd
I'm not sure if Apple TV uses HDCP. Google results are confusing and too many to sort out. It may depend on Region. But yeah, its probably the same problem. New devices playing back HD content may be equipped with the HDCP protocol. So you need an HDCP compatible projector. Alternative options are using the PS3 Analog out and play in SD. Or find an HDMI adapter that removes HDCP from the signal.beats me wrote:Well isn't that a load of bullshit. Re: OT - RE5: RENAMED to official (enough) vidya game threddddd
^the analog out doesn't work either. I may have to try this $200 adaptor (booooooo) and get a HDMI switch for multiple components and see what happens. At least that's a lot cheaper than buying a new projector that can handle this shit by default.
But I still don't get why this signal passes perfectly fine to a TV digital or analog, but connecting it to a projector is some kind of violation or encription problem. Are they worried people are going to turn their home theaters into actual theaters and start charging admission?
