Hello expert ableton user!
Thank you for the favor of your time and attention. I am trying to figure out how to have master tempo change to the tempo of a particular clip when it fires. Someone told me that I could do it by making that clip the only one in a row and firing it by triggering the master for that row on the far right in the master column, but that didn't work, the clip just fired at whatever tempo the master tempo was already on.
I've been playing out with Ableton for a long time, just playing my whole set at the same tempo, with no problems, but I'm looking to change up my set a bit, and currently the only way I know how to change the master tempo is by physically changing it with a click and drag or by typing in a new tempo.
Thank you again for your expertise.

Help with firing a clip that changes master tempo?
Re: Help with firing a clip that changes master tempo?
Just name your scenes appropriately. From the manual:
Scene names can be both descriptive and functional; if Live detects a viable tempo and/
or time signature as part of a scene name, the project will automatically adjust to these
parameters when the scene is launched. To assign a tempo to a scene, select the scene
and rename it with a viable tempo (e.g., 96 BPM). Any tempo can be used, as long as it is
within the range allowed by Live's Tempo control (20-999 BPM). To assign a time signature
to a scene, rename the scene with a meter in the form of x/y (e.g., 4/4). Any time
signature can be used, provided it has a numerator between 1 and 99 and a denominator
with a beat value of 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16.

Wow, I totally missed that in the manual. Thanks so much for pointing it out!

Re: Help with firing a clip that changes master tempo?
Anyone know if there's a way of doing it gradually for a nominated amount of time rather than the instant scene change way?
Re: Help with firing a clip that changes master tempo?
You can do gradual change envelopes with the master track in arrangement view.
However, I've heard it was possible but never seen it done or explained in sufficient detail that a gradual change dummy clip can be created for tempo changes in session view.
