Session Drums Midi Files in Live 8 ?

Post by emma » Wed Apr 08, 2009 7:18 am

Got my Live 8 suite box today and missing the session drum grooves . Can anybody explain where are the session drums midi files (or clips) in the Live 8 Suite content ? The downloadable update doesn't work (update is not possible, cause you're trying update a older version over a newer one ). :o

Hi,

thanks for letting us know. You're right, the "Live 8 Session Drums Update" on the Live Pack Downloads Page contains the wrong Live Packs. We'll update them shortly.

In the meantime, you can go to http://www.ableton.com/session-drums-update and download the "Session Drums Expansion Pack" - it contains all MIDI Grooves. When you install this Live Pack in Live 8, it will automatically be updated to the right version.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best,
Daniel

Hi,

I've installed the Session Drums Midi Files... but where are they? :-)

In fact, where should the Session Drums themselves be? In Drum Rack > Kit?

These downloads could come with a readme detailing exactly what they put where :-)

Thanks,

Alex

I just installed the SessionDrumsMidiGrooves.alp from the Session Drums expansion and I still can't find the Midi Files.

I noticed in the help quick links there was a link for Session Drums Kits & Clips. When I click on 'clips' I get the following error message:

"failed to resolve the link to BrowseLibraryFiles:/Clips/Drums/Session Drums MIDI Grooves"

And indeed there is nothing there!

Where should they be? They appear to install correctly.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

I'll look into it. There are 2 versions of the Session Drums MIDI Grooves on the website, which ones did you download?

Daniel

Same problem here.

Installed latest version (suite 8.0.1)
Installed every single DVD that came in the box (with loads of coffee :) )

Downloaded the Session drums update (version v8.1)

oops
Just read the previous post correctly... installing session drums expansion...
keeping fingers crossed ;)

Hi,

how did you manage to delete them?

When I try to deinstall the Packs via pref, i.e. "Session Drums MIDI Grooves" or "Session Drums Expansion" my Live-after-eight tells they can't be deleted because some files are in use!?

Thanks for any hint to get these Session drums to work (the reason I bought the Suite actually<g>)

Ciao, Bernd

my first reaction would be to do complete restart, and try de-installing the packs.

At least that did it for me.

start live8

go to preferences ----> library... ah, maar dat vind je wel..... :)

LISTEN EVERYONE!

The key to this is to install THE EXPANSION not the UPDATE!

Excuse me to bump an old thread, but I need to know if everything was installed right

I just installed the 8.0.1 DVD on a Mac and update with the latest 8.2.2. There were no session drums midi grooves.

Later I installed the Session drums update v8.1
http://www.ableton.com/downloads/downlo ... e_v8.1.zip

NOW I have the midi grooves, 17 folders total.

The questions are:
1. Do I still need to install the older Session Drums Expansion Pack?
http://www.ableton.com/session-drums-update

2. How many is the "correct" total amount of midi folders of the session drums?
Can't find any documentation about this.

Thanks guys.
