Can anyone recommend a good tuner or a plug in that can tell me the key that a sound is playing in.

On my PC I used to use the GSnap one but it don't work on my mac

In short: Check out the Audio Effect > Spectrum > Notes right there in Live, it's a little funky to get used to initially, but I have grown to love it.
