Re: Fabfilter One for €5
isn't this the same synth you get for free on the coverdisc of computer music magazine?
Re: Fabfilter One for €5
CM Edition doesnt support Polyphonic sounds, and there's extra presets. You also get to upgrade at discount prices if you have FabFilter One from them.bleep wrote:isn't this the same synth you get for free on the coverdisc of computer music magazine?

I have the same question... is it worth it if I have a bunch of other soft synths already?
Re: Fabfilter One for €5
It's a minimalistic one osc subtractive synth, so it certainly won't give you any single feature you don't already have in Albino, for example. However, it's still different, and it sounds great. Sometimes reaching for a synth which offers you a very simple design, but does it extremely well, can be just the thing.aisling wrote:if I have albino 3 and reason 4 and virus powercore, do I need this?
I predict I'll most often use this layered in a Live rack with either other instances of itself or reinforcing some other synth in a similar manner.
Re: Fabfilter One for €5
Yes, I have a ton of power-synths (Komplete 2-5, Zebra 2, Surge, Alchemy, Morphine, Symptohm, Kubik, MS-20, etc.), but I still bought this. The sound on this thing is fantastic, and having such a limited amount of buttons is great because
a) It makes you really *want* to map it to your MIDI controller. The more complex beasts like Zebra almost invariably stay on the mouse for me, but I have a beautiful Automap template set-up for One that just makes me use it.
b) There's a huge sweet spot on this thing. It's limited, sure, but almost everything sounds good, and it finds its role in the song much quicker.
I already kind of had One before I bought it. It comes with every issue of CM, but the version on the disc is old and doesn't have polyphony. So, in reality, I paid $6 just to have more notes from this puppy.
Furthermore, if you are interested in other Fabfilter products, this sets up your account with the upgrade prices.
So yeah, in my opinion, skip a Happy Meal and buy this.
