Since you can't wait a little over a month for the APC-40 to come out then by all means get one of these for about 5 times the price

Re: Whats your favourite Midi-Controller for Ableton Live ?
i think the good old UC-33e is still the ultimative.
edit -- for it's price

Can the buttons on the apc40 be used for programming beats and key riffs? are they velocity sensitive?

Why does it matter? Nobody likes dynamics anymore. Saves you money on a quality compressor.heavensdaw wrote:TRS80 wrote:are they velocity sensitive?No...

Re: Whats your favourite Midi-Controller for Ableton Live ?
after my first prejudice about stuff from Akai, i have to admit the APC 40 looks sweet, saw it in real already and it's manufactured very well...
otherwise the plain and simple padKONTROL from Korg is still on top of my list, i use it the most in my setup and also for live playing, DJ-ing and writing stuff on the go, it's so small, light (easy to stick in a bag) and usefull especially with farmpad on OSX.
(EDIT) i forgot to mention that i am also impressed with the light weight of the APC 40, easy piece of gear to travel with

I use both the Novation Remote 25SL and the padkontrol for all my control needs. Also have an old korg wavestation hooked up to the SL for when I need the full keyboard range.

Right now I use an old Kurzweil K2000 and an out-of-production DrumKat.
When the Akai MPK25 comes out, I'm getting it.
I guess it's "awesome", but I see the APC40 as a glorified clip launcher, geared more toward performance and less toward production.

i programmed mine to emulate the apc40 (almost) i handle production and performance, mainly using this piece with midistroke.
