All DrumRack Controled by Axiom's Pads

Post by nolivdacom » Mon Apr 20, 2009 6:03 pm

Hello, it's been a while that I'm looking for a trick with Axiom's Pads and Live 7...

I'd like to control DrumRack and I'd like to have 8 banks of 8 samples controled by the only 8 pads.
Also, I want to change banks by clicking and holding a press button (D45 on axiom 61) and choose my bank number with the pad 1,2,3 or 4 or etc... which is correponding to bank number...
Someone can help me please? I really need it to simplify my gig set!

My configuration:
- Axiom 61
- Live 7.0.15
- Macbook with mac osx 10.5.6

Thanks to everybody (and sorry for my bad english...)

Yep axiom people, I'm also interested in this kind of trick :-)

EDIT : What's the D45 by the way ? On my axiom 61, I just have D9 - D17

The D45 is the press button under the master fader. Maybe it's my mistake but in enigma software, it's called D45... :?:

Ok, on the Axiom 61 itself, it's called D17 .... anyway, this doesn't answer our question :-)
However I don't think the pad on the left of the axiom actually sends MIDI messages - but I might be wrong- so I don't know if hat you want to do is even possible :-/

well, I found some answers...

- The axiom can't programm itself, so I can't change pad's note by clicking other axiom button.
- Live's instruments can't reiceive programme change...

But I just had an idea about all of that:
I use drum rack by octave and I change note using a midi pitch fx. Then I control my differents pitch FX with A,B,C,D press button.
- I mean, by default, I play Bank A0 (without midi pitch fx): C0 to G0.(for 8 pads)
- When I press and hold B button, I enable first midi pitch fx (+12 st: 1 octave) and play bank B0: C1 to G1
when I release B button, the first midi pitch fx is disable and I come back to A0 bank.
- When I press and hold C button, I enable seconde midi pitch fx (+24 st: 2 octave) and play bank CO: C2 to G2
- When I press and hold D button, I enable seconde midi pitch fx (+24 st: 3 octave) and play bank DO: C3 to G3
Then, I use A button with a 4 octave midi pitch fx to control bank A1: C4 to G4
And for the next bank, I hold the A button and also press and hold B,C or D button to control the next bank.
In this way I can use 8 bank A0,B0,C0,D0,A1,B1,C1 and D1!!!!
I'm just thinking about that but I didn't have the time to test it for the moment.

I hope this is working well!!
See Ya

Hello everybody, it works!!! 8O
I give you my instrument rack patch: noliv 8 banks samples (right click, save as...)
I can control 8 banks pressing and holding A,B,C,D button of axiom!
1 - Put this patch on a midi track
2 - Configure axiom's pads playing C0 to G0 notes.
3 - Configure button A, B, C and D to be Midi CC note On/Off (147), choose the numbers of free Midi Control Change and make sure that your off-velocity and on-velocity are 127.
4 - be sure that the four midi pitch fx in your instrument rack are disable
5 - In ableton live, configure your a,b,c,d button to control A1,B,C,D midi pitch fx
6 - Choose the best drum rack and enjoy!!!
:P
