Any word on when the 8.0.2 final will be released ? 8.0.1 seems to crash repeatedly for me :/
Cheers,

Re: Beta version for upcoming bugfix update! Live 8.0.2b1!
Although not a 8.0.1 owner yet, I'd like to thank Ableton for going promptly into bug fixing and intelligently opening the beta of the bug fixing to owners.
Even if this long bug list assesses that 8.0.1 was released a little ahead of time, there are some welcomed additions to the current set of features, which makes Ableton even more admirable as a company for strong commitment and speed on satisfying its Customers.
For all the ones complaining or having doubts on Ableton correctness in doing business on this very forum, I hope this will bring enlightenment about the fact that Ableton is a real company making real business in a real world but in a different way. Many configurations out there show no problems but a bug fix was needed for all the other paying customers and so they did. In my experience with bought software this happens less and less, especially in a crisis climate. Software released ahead of time because of an event is now standard practice but only a few companies provide fixes in short times.
Think of this before complaining again.
Thanks again Ableton.
I'll be soon on 8.0.2 when released.
If at some point beta will go public I will contribute.

Uhm. I've got a Bamboo and an Intuos 3. Of the 3 cheap ones you mention the "Bamboo" is the best, but really, you should try as hard as you can to get an Intuos, as they are so very much better. They are precise, fast, soft in touch (the pen is of good quality while the Bamboo pens are more like hard plastic), and very robust. The Bamboo on the other hand is a bit more toylike, it goes perfectly well with a netbook, since both are small and lightweight and therefore are easily storable together. The Intuos is a bit bigger and heavier, but that one is a professional tool.p8guitar wrote:any recommendations which wacom one should use? "Bamboo one", "Bamboo", "Bamboo fun"?

I'd like to do some drawing with it (with Anime studio), but most of the time I'll use it only with Ableton live as a controller. So for simple x-y pad motions it might not make so big a difference if I use Bamboo or intuos?
But the tool ID, express keys and touch strip functions of the Intuos 3 seem to be very useful, too - provided they work together with Ableton Live or other programs (VDMX?). I'll so some ebay searching tonight I think...

go for an intuos the resolution will be very important for precise editing of parameters.p8guitar wrote:I'd like to do some drawing with it (with Anime studio), but most of the time I'll use it only with Ableton live as a controller. And overall they feel much better.
And if you are working with a big screen its a no brainer..
Re: Beta version for upcoming bugfix update! Live 8.0.2b1!
Oh well, for some reason the touch strip of my intuos sometimes started scrolling randomly without me doing anything one year after having it, so I have that deacrivated. but other than that, i have been using it for about 4 years now, about 10 hours per day, about 330 days a year, and of course it looks used and scratched but it amazes me that it is still as usable as in the beginning (I never used the strip anyway). Don't overestimate the toolid, since you'll most probably won't be using it if you don't really need to have multiple pens, you're most likely not going to get an additional one. ToolID's won't work with Live or any other application which doesn't interface the wacom driver directly, and most applications don't.p8guitar wrote:I'd like to do some drawing with it (with Anime studio), but most of the time I'll use it only with Ableton live as a controller. I just recommend an intuos because of the quality of the product, that one isn't a toy.
Before using a pen my wrist used to hurt a lot for about 2 years (I was about 28 years old back then), also the clicking of the mouse buttons annoyed the hell out of me. I'm totally glad I spent the money on something not-cheap, you know, this is like buying a good pair of shoes instead of cheap ones, which should be quite important if you do marathon running professionally - speaking in methaphors. These tablets last longl, so consider it as an investment.
Also I haven't tried the Bamboo on my 1920x1200 screen, only on the small netbook screen, so the resolution of the bamboo is ok for a netbook, but I also doubt that it should be ok fo big screens.
One problematic thing is that you are kind of limited to using one monitor, there are solutions to this, but none is really perfect.

This is just ridiculous... Beta 8.0.2b1?! You have to be kidding me...
Why on earth did Ableton released the version 8 to begin with is my primary question to begin with..?!
Obviously Live 8 was still in BETA upon release...
What gives..?!
