i second that.Maschine fills the gaps that the Abes themselves didn't get around to implement in live 8,one of them being:RECORDING CLIP AUTOMATION!humnumb wrote:Native Instruments Maschine

It has the APC-like clip matrix launcher mode for Live, step sequencer, mouse-less operation, record automation in Maschine's own session view, and even use it to trigger Live devices like Drum Racks with velocity sensitive pads.
second:a stepsequencer like Maschine
third:a controller with displays for visual feedback, like Maschine and Novation Remotes and Kore 2
curious about that "mackie control"mode in Maschine, anyone tested that with Live?
i'm buying it next tuesday(payday

I was going to get an APC40 but NI's Maschine has convinced me to go for it instead. It'll be the first drum/groove based device I've sprung for since I bought Stylus RMX 4 years ago. It really does seem like it'll fill the gaps in Ableton. I never use the session view so I realized the APC40 would be overkill for a workflow I don't even have. Stylus RMX showed me that a plugin dedicated to one function primarily, is a powerful tool and Abe's session view still can't compete with RMX's one-the-fly loop manipulation capability. With Machine you get a MPC styled drum machine with 5GB of quality samples(and integrated features like note-repeat and bad ass FX processors), a step-sequencer/groovebox, a sampler/beat slicer, a midi controler, and DAW/Ableton Live control all-in-one with the ability to switch between those functions on the fly, without looking at the computer and mousing around. Yes there are currently issues with no midi out capability and flawed sample editing features, but I believe most of those complaints will dissappear within a year with patch updates. I've got one on back order and it can't get to me fast enough!

the novation 0 is a plastic piece of shit.
it is cool, but the sliders start breaking within a year if you gig a lot.
i wish kenton would get this thing going already:

whatever, i'm going to build my own goddammit.

that's been promised for years now! Love those big chunky mini moog like knobs, but you know that if it ever is produced those would be replaced with something else.leisuremuffin wrote: i wish kenton would get this thing going already:

yep.
i would be fine with the knobs they have on the little controller they make.
wish they would do this because it's so close to the one i want to build it would save me a lot of trouble.

anybody using mixmeister control?
Re: Whats your favourite Midi-Controller for Ableton Live ?
A MIDI keyboard.
3 pages to get to that.
Another sad indictment of Live users.
( I have an APC, 2 x Mackie Controls, 2 X LPD8s, and countless other MIDI gadgets. I could make music without any of them. But not without a keyboard.)
