Moving the playhead backwards?
Hi,
I wondering if anyone might happen top know if there is a way to make the playhead go backwards?
As in, play the arrangement from end to beginning in real time.
Currently I'm recording all tracks into audio and reversing them all, but this is such a time burden.
Thanks for any help,
Cheers,
Tyler Hart

Just out of interest... why would you want to do this, beyond tape-rewind fx?
Win 7 64bit, Live9.6, M-Audio Delta1010, padKontrol x 2, Elektron OT, MD-UW, MNM

Off the top of my head. Find an app that can create and send out midi clock through an virtual internal midi cable i.e. Reaktor, Energy, Bidule?
Slave lives clock to the custom utility you make/find in said 3rd party application.
This will still make your reverb tails, delays etc play forward though. Not sure exactly what you're after...

This would be an extremely nice feature to be able to switch rev/fwrd in real time. Maybe in Live 9?

Re: Moving the playhead backwards?
Can someone please explain why this would be a good feature?
I have it on the CDJ1000 and never use it...

It's simply just one more option...timothyallan wrote:Can someone please explain why this would be a good feature?

Whether YOU use it or not, it seems hard to argue having one more option included as long as it doesn't do anything detrimental to the program.
I personally would love to be able to simply reverse a set and resample that reversed set to include as part of a final mix.
It would also be cool if you happen to be conspiracy buff and believe all those old school songs play secret messages when reversed. It' be extremely easy to reverse those songs with this enabled.

You'd honestly complain about having one more option available? You must be getting too set in your ways man... Now that's a BIG Yawn.Tone Deft wrote:lmfao for real, had to be said.timothyallan wrote:Can someone please explain why this would be a good feature?

too set in my ways??
instant reverse in arrange view is an interesting request, totally retarded and useless but interesting.
attack the feature, not the person. don't be a dick.

I'm satisfied with interesting... I know I would use it. Definitely not every-day, but I have use for it.

Listen crankypants, I'm just looking for reasons as to why people would use it. I don't care if it's included or not, but I am interested to know the reasoning behind it.elxicano wrote:It's simply just one more option...timothyallan wrote:Can someone please explain why this would be a good feature?

Re: Moving the playhead backwards?
Honestly, what got me interested in first wanting this feature was after playing Braid on Xbox. The reverser/forward action is just sweet alongside the music being played (which is different for what you'd expect in a video game). To put it simply, I just had a couple of ideas of places in a track I have that I'd like to reverse the playback and then revert back to moving forward. I don't want just one track... I want all the tracks to do this.timothyallan wrote:Listen crankypants, I'm just looking for reasons as to why people would use it. Now, it's not that this can't be done already with some added effort, but it'd be cool if there was a quicker way to do it, by simply hitting a reverse playbutton and then record the resampling of this back.
The likelihood of this ever being included probably has odds like winning the lotto, but still it's something I would like to see as an option.

Re: Moving the playhead backwards?
Thanks!
If you do some googling, there are VST's that will store the audio in a buffer and let you flip it around. Stick that on your master bus and go for it
