Angstrom is an awesome producer and if you don't already know it then you should peep out his myspace.

I've never started a thread like this but after listening to his music a few days ago and right now, I realized it had to be done. Peep out this mans composition, sound design and mixing and LEARN. Angstrom, you are the shit my man!

Ooh I like. Bit of Zoot Woman or Phoenix influence I sense. Maybe.
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!

Really nice!
reminds me of a combination of Mike Paradinas and Boren and the Club of Gore, sweet stuff.

A PIECE OF SHIT HAS A THOUSAND EYES.
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!
oh yeah, it is good music isnt it, i can never remember if he is one of the cocks that argues with me though. Anyone that argues with me is inferior and like a wippet on blowers.
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!
are you talking about the french band phoenix? cause i don't hear that in angstrom's music at all.condra wrote:Ooh I like. Bit of Zoot Woman or Phoenix influence I sense. Maybe.

Really nice,
love the drum programming.
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!
Very nice! - what's the bass synth that comes in about 10 seconds into "Expectation Gap"?
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!
Quite nice. Thanks for posting and bringing it to my attention. I like the compositions, nice journeys that don't sound mechanical while still sounding purposeful and intentional. Looks like I'll have to pick this up and add it to my collection.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

It's fairly amazing how you can come to realize something you have known for a LONG time without even knowing it! Sound confusing? I purchased these CDs and many other Planet Dog CDs when they came out back in the 90s.RawTheory wrote:Angstrom is an awesome producer and if you don't already know it then you should peep out his myspace.

I had zero idea that Angstrom was even on or partly responsible for these projects
I REALLY respect Angstrom not only because of how hard it is to improve on what sounds as great as this classic material does, but for having the sheer level of talent, commitment and true artistic appreciation necessary to forwarded the whole of electronic music's evolution as he has. An inspiration for certain and not a nicer person on this forum, that's a fact.
peace & kudos to you Sir, from a long time listener

thanks for all the compliments people, keep 'em coming
It spurs me on to finish off my webshop!
the other two elements which provide the punch are two Simplers playing a waveform each, sampled from my old Korg MonoPoly. Those waves are a rather knackered looking sawtooth, and a 'triangle' wave that looks more like a rounded off square. both of them have an EQ 8 increasing somewhere around 2k to get the presence in there. That's the bit that is more 'pokey'.

It's a rack of 3 things: the main one is a synth I made in Synthedit ages ago which despite being a bit shit is always incredibly useful somehow. The output is split into high and low frequency ranges which are processed separately and those parts make the kinda 'flabby' reverb-y part of the sound.8O wrote:Very nice! - what's the bass synth that comes in about 10 seconds into "Expectation Gap"?

Well... it works! Cheers!
Re: Angstrom's music is the shit!!!!
So angstrom, what exactly is your studio setup. Is it all in-the-box? What are your go to tools?

When I found this out after clicking his link a few weeks ago it brought back some serious memories of the 90s and all that Planet Dog stuff. Definitely classic!
