Hi, where can I view a complete list of all the new features and changes in Live 8?

I think this is the closest thing available at the moment: http://www.ableton.com/live-8-whats-new - check each subsection for more details. But there are lots of additional small tweaks which I haven't seen listed in a single document anywhere...

Hi yeah Ive read those and this is what Ableton has to say: And many more workflow improvements: Yes, that feature request you sent may well be in there somewhere...

there are a huge amount of changes
lots of the 'small' ones are actually quite big. eg : you can now midi assign 'show this rack or device' by assigning a midi key/cc to the header bar of each rack/device. That is pure gold.

it would be good to have a huuuge list of every single one of these changes. (I un-volunteer myself for this task)

Lots of these little features didn't actually get listed in the change-logs of the betas, you have to rely on word of mouth to find most of them!

Surely Amo / someone else in specification has a big list in a spreadsheet?
when their hangovers wear off perhaps they could post it?

ding - you've got mail!

great idea, but FFS blah blah blah and no features being written out?? lazy people on the interweb!! :P

let's get the brainstorming rolling and the OP can copy them into a nice list in his first post. maybe in groups like 'effects' 'instruments' and workflow, or whatever makes sense.

Looper
group tracks
color code tracks
manual configuration of device parameters
screen zoom
file sharing
new warping technique
new complex warp mode (Elastique Pro)
new beats warp mode
groove templates
vocoder
cross fades in arrange view
step sequence mode in clip view
new Operator mode (what's the name of that feature? the one to add frequencies to the osc?)
APC support
max4Live support
multiband dynamic effect
overdrive effect
frequency shifter effect
limiter effect
multiparamter control
Browser waveform display

some browser changes
  • you can add metadata (descriptive text) to your presets via info view and see that metadata in the browser (if info view is open)
  • search now searches the metadata
  • browser now has a preview pane
  • browser on XP now shows drive names rather than just letters (!)
  • browser now has a column that says what pack the preset comes from (eg : Session Drums, or EIC2)
  • browser now has conditional searches (but it's not in the manual)
Alex wrote:You can enter filter expressions in the form of token:value. Existing tokens so far are: LivePack, Vendor, Product, InfoText (InfoText refers to annotations). Tokens and values are not case sensitive, values are substring matched. Additionally, you can have search expressions containing whitespace if you use ””. E.g: LivePack:“Session Drums” This also works for normal searches (e.g.: “Crash 14.adg”)

hmm, that's all I can remember about the browser for now

There's a thread about the unannounced features with a load of cool stuff.
But i'm too lazy to compile a list.
