Anyone remixing Depeche Mode's 'Peace' using Live?

Post by loopdokter » Wed Apr 29, 2009 12:47 am

The title says it all.

I can't seem to get the vocals to snap properly to my project tempo of 128 BPM. The original song hovers around 138 BPM. I am using Live version 8. I know how to warp marker properly, but this tune is being tricky for some reason.

Anyone willing to share their warp file with me, please?

Danke!

I'd love to see what you come up with, but would also love a copy of your warp file for the vocals! ;)

I spent alot of today playing with the files in Live. i woke up to an email from beatport...after sleeping in today, because i stayed home... suspended from my shit job for being late too much.

i accidentally downloaded the files as mp3's but i think it sounds ok

im having lots of fun with it, and i think a big reason for that is: ive never heard the original cut. I think i may have chord progression pretty close..sounds like the tune is mostly in A.. with those familiar Depeche Mode embelishments

so far i have two main grooves kinda worked up..the first has the dark bass synth parts, some of the texture-ey sounds, and chopped up and repitched vocal hits loaded into a drum rack mpc style.

then i worked up the chorus and main verses into the arrangement tab, with instrumentation added from an Alesis A6, guitar, and Sonic Charge Synplant.

128 bpm?? naww im sticking with 138 for the first version

Hehe. I'm aware it's 138ish originally. I make house music - not trance/hard dance/dub-step so that's why I'm toning down the BPM a bit.

yeah i gotcha...see i edited above before ur reply..i re read and caught that...anyways...trying to think of why the vocals aren't working..

i feel like the song is locked dead on at 138, but some of the cadences in the singing are not as tight as they could be.
the slides and such...
sounds like a little pitch correction has been done on the vocals too!!

The record labels and artists have to find new ways to make money and this is one of them.
5 years ago, the labels started doing remix contests to save the remix costs which were sometimes € 20.0000.- and more.
Now they save the costs as well, have hardware companys to give away their products for free, and earn
some money by selling the parts.
Music industry is changing. Me personally, as an artist, would like to get more money through actual record sales, but
the money must come from somewhere....
