im actually confused where i stand in it all.

im a geek somewhat, but ive made money selling tracks before, and i managed to make a cd that was in the major retailer stores, and im working on doing it again, but have thus far been able to reap the fruits of my labor, with much of it being due to my own bad decisions. i dont know where or what the fuck i am.

In my opinion, this is exactly what makes you an artist.

Artists create. There are "good" artists with great skills, and there are "amatuer" artists with no so great skills in some areas.

Social definition of an "artiste" is totally different. Has to do with name recogntion, having "important" impact of some kind, being critically acclaimed etc.

Dont be afraid to realize that if you create, you are an artist, and you dont need any validation for that.

imo ..

I don't care what any of you think :D

Just try pulling me away from music for an extended amount of time and I'll get violent on your ass. Or maybe I'll just become "normal".

Try playing with others in a group? Just one other person makes a huge difference to your sense of place - if you feel isolated or whatever.

And I agree that if you create you need not worry about validating yourself.

Play on.

What about just a regular Joe Schmoe, that loves music so much that he decided to do more than just listen to it. However, I do feel that I've always looked a little geekish no matter how hard I try, even if I ever have that is.

Speaking of geeks! Who hear has seen "Napolian Dynamite"?
