Audio Drop Outs

Post by rbro » Fri May 01, 2009 11:48 pm

OK, here's another weird one. All of a sudden I'll go to fire a clip or a scene and I'll get a click or a pop and then no audio. And no levels in the Master. It's like it reaches critical mass or something. If I hit the stop button I'll hear like a second of whatever trailing audio/reverb decay etc. is still there and see a quick jump in the master levels before it stops. Any ideas what could be going on here?

Dropouts, but no major CPU spikes?

Are you working with an external hard drive? I have a WD My Book, and I occasionally get the same problem because it will go into a sort-of sleep mode.

It also sounds like it could be your sound card... did you replace it recently? My Mbox 2 would cut the sound out at points when it reached it's "critical mass" ...I hate digidesign products.

The thing is that all of a sudden there are no levels in the master channel. I see levels in all the individual tracks, but then I add one more clip and I'll hear a pop or a click then nothing in the Master channel.

what do the drive indicator and CPU meter show? I think those would be the two things at work at that moment. any plug-ins or automation with the new clip? when the shit hits the fan preferences.cfg often helps.

you've been Live-ing a lot today, I'm just starting. jealous!

Multiple instances of Omnisphere along with Kontakt 3 and Kore 2. I'll check out the CPU and drive indicator next time I have it up.

freeze tracks - omnisphere is VERY CPU intensive. Or at least try increasing your latency a notch.

I'm getting audio drop outs too... using the 802b2 (the current beta).

It's happening on frozen tracks too and I haven't even got any cpu hogs running.

Most annoying....
