M4L devices question?

Post by feerhoof » Wed May 06, 2009 12:33 am

no pricing info yet, right?

I have been thinking of selling some of my hardware guitar looping and delays in order to afford the upgrade to Live 8, in the meantime I was wandering If the devices and effects created with M4L would work if You dont have M4L, just Live 8.

The answer to both your questions is no. You will have to buy M4L to gain access to prefab or user made M4L devices.

Is there a release date for it yet? or an approximation?

If you want the vaguest of vague rumours:

I think there's an idea of release somewhere around November this year.
nothing at all in any way to substantiate that though.

it's the usual "someone on the internet said" stuff.

OK, there is no way I can wait till november for Live 8.

What I am trying to figure out is weather there a point to hold out on getting Live 8 at this juncture

don't think of M4L as part of Live 8 , think of it as a separate product.
There's a load of new features in L8, try the demo and if you have needed crossfades, or device selection assigning, or grouptracks, or multiple selection, or better midi editing, or wacom support, etc, etc then you will be compelled to get it.

if you don't want those things, then don't.
I wouldn't base that decision on M4L as that's going to cost you more money anyway

also no guarantee that someone is going to make a M4L toy that will
do what you want unless you are planning on writing them yourself.
