audio damage automaton
zoom in real close and select the slice of audio you wanna glitch, then hit ctrl+d or apple+d. yay stuttering!
try using some of your vst effects and just fucking the sound really hard. then record the output, then stutter that. or something... fades.. junk... mess around, thats what glitch is about.
(personal fav, take the sound and run it through a really hot compressor to create distortion,t hen cut back and forth between the original sound and stuttered distorted sound... fun time)

Re: glitch tricks, software, how?
Here is a very simple follow action glitch:
i have made a simple beat on the 606 (ableton), nothing special just an example of how to do it.
Now i freeze the track and drag to a free audio track
i went in saved the audio and named it on the system
after this i went to the launch setting and set legato, and global quantize ( this means what ever you main transport quantize), and set it to loop at 1 16th.
No copy the loop over like 10 clips.
change the start time the time stretching the warp makers, reverse etc.
also what i like doing is adding in random sounds to add some groove.

There's also a very simple way to get glitchy/stuttering sounds. Just open the clip envelope and kill the volume every 1/4 or 1/8 or 1/16 note. You can vary these with dummy clips and use follow action to randomize the stutter dummy clip that's being utilized. Stick a filter on and modulate that using the envelope as well.

I came for the

In Reactor 5, Splitter, Vectory, L3, Travelizer, Randomstepshifter, GoBox are all good for getting glitchy sounds. From the User Library, sonictwist!'s ensembles are great. Some ensembles (Vectory) have noticeable delay so you'll have to adjust the track delay compensation in Live.lucien wrote:im looking into putting stuttering and glitchy sounds in my mix. telefon tel aviv sort of random weird changing things, mostly on drums. i know how to manually cut and paste but how do i do it live. what vsts or reaktor ensembles do i need. any help would be great.
