I want a new pair of monitors for mixing/mastering, because I simply hate my current ones.
My budget is up to 1600 € for that. My problem is that it's difficult to hear all the models I want to hear, therefore I want to (hopefully) shorten my list here or at least get some good advises.
what's important for me:
- I want real nearfields (up to 6.5") - so 8" woofers are not favoured due to crossover problems to the tweeter at that short listening distance (I would add a sub later if needed)
- I like a tight bass, tight means detailed and accurate, not loud, boomy or flabby.
- I like and want neutral sound (real instruments, jazz) - but I like a "aggressive" or better a dynamic/snappy touch too.
- Good stereo imaging/depth is important for me.
- It have to translate well to a club PA too.
- I want a detailed sound for critical listening/mastering (mp3 artefacts, clipping, noise, ...)
A good monitor have to work with all kind of music, but my focus are jazz (only mixing!), dub/electronic stuff, techno/house (so an accurate bass is important).
my list so far:
- genelec 8040
- ks-digital c-8 (I like coax, and due to the coax a 8" woofer is no problem, but can't find a review)
- focal 6 be solo
- krk vxt 6
- any other insider tips???
I don't like:
- adam a7
Please only write something if you really have an opinion ( best based on real world experience ) or think that there is a better suggestion or that I'm doing something wrong - not just "I randomly bought this one and yeah I like it"... I think you know what I mean.
I'm looking forward to your replys!
