Is it just me or is new warping system a pain?

Post by mrbird » Thu May 07, 2009 2:23 pm

Had Live 8 since it's release, still not liking the new warping system at all. Slowing my work flow right down compared to Live 7. Grrr. Any tips? Any one prefer it? Likng the other features too much in L8 to consider going back to 7.

It's you... the fact that you're not able to do it fast doesn't mean the new warping it's a P.I.T.A. you had to see how the warping was on earlier versions (like 2...3 8O ).

I thought that at first after I got warping down to a fine art in 7.

HOWEVER. The new way does make complete sense and makes warping acapellas much easier.

Watch this as it gives you some great tips.

I will now never go back. And I suggest you don't either.

I don't like it as much as live 7, so I'm sticking with 7 for a while.

I have to use the shift button way too much with live 8 which is a pain cos my left hand is usually playing the keyboard/midi controller while my right hand is on the mouse.

it's horses for courses though

Hmmm, I've been a Live user since version 3, and this new system is just a bit of a pain - I understand quite clearly how it works and I can see it is more logical than the old system, but my point was preactically it has really slowed my work flow down, as I'm currently trying to make one master DJ template from about 6/7 other Live DJ sets, importing all the tunes from all the other sets and having to re-warp loads of stuff. I love the rest of Live 8 to much to consider stepping backwards, just wanting to vent a little, thats all!

Were the 114 other threads whining about this not sufficient enough?

Why do you need to re-warp anything? The old warp markers simply translate to the new system. You're doing it wrong.

I find the new warping great, it takes me about 5 clicks to warp a song, usually between 10-15 seconds, i couldnt do that in 7.

Thanks for the positive advice guys. I appreciate it. Oh and someone who has always bought his Ableton software since Version 3 I think I have the right to vent my spleen very politely on a public forum, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it Sparklepuff.

you'll get used to it give it some more time, it took me a while to get my head around the old system originally, and that system quite poorly showed graphically what was going on sonically, the new system is more consistent and sounds much better in beats mode, I might add.
