Oh yes that certainly is stupid and simple. It would be like calling software intended for live use something like ... oh I dunno ... Live?

If you're a reason user it probably is a great addition - and it has some nice features, but most people will believe a) it's arrived too late in the game, and b) would have preferred this functionality to be part of an integrated Reason, rather than as a seperate app albeit one which can connect up to Reason and sync with it.

Sounds kinda like something Ableton have been doing since live5.

Also, SAMPLER.

From what I've seen, it is Reason with a new mixer and audio recording. It's more like a skin and a few new features. If you buy the stand alone app, you just won't have Reason's devices.

Its a new tool, in addition to Reason
It records audio, duh!
It natively opens Reason files...if you have Reason installed.
64-bit mix engine.
SSL 9000k modelded EQ and compression on every audio channel and an SSL modeled bus comp as well.
Line 6 guitar and bass amp models.
A simple Sound Canvas/Proteus tone generator.
Very intuitive track comping.
The best time-stretching I've ever seen. I saw a 40-track audio project (full band, vocals, etc.) time stretched from 130 bpm to 180 bpm to 68 bmp by simply typing in a new tempo value without any artifacting.
The Reason rack convention is maintained, but you can now have as many racks as you'd like from left to right. You can do all the cabling, just as in Reason.
No third-party plugins are supported, but it can be ReWired. As with Reason, Record is a "closed system" but that allows the code to be very CPU efficient. It will run on any machine that can run Reason, which is just about any lame computer.
No time code support, no video support.

Record is NOT Reason with audio added. It's a seperate program costing extra it does not include ANY of the Reason sound modules or devices, it does contain one rompler kind of synth playback device and uses cables but this is where the similarity ends.

muhahahaha

propellerhead held the RECORD in not implementing audio functionality in music software until now. maybe that´s the REASON for choosing that name.

I saw it yesterday - kb420 is right it is much more than this text suggests.
