why can't I send midi-clock to more than one output

can anyone telle me, if it's possible to define more than one midi-clock output to sync external hardware to live. i own a steinberg midex3 with 3 outputs

no, it's not possible... the midi clock is sent by the port defined in the preferences, if you select another port as a midi out, it will only send notes...

you have to install a virtual midi port like midiyoke http://www.midiox.com/index.htm?http:// ... /myoke.htm )

you select the virtual midi device (midiyoke) as your midi-out in ableton , and rerout it afterwards to your different real midi outputs

it never worked for me (midiox/yoke)

but the problems certainly comes from me, i didn't spend a lot of time on midi yoke

midiyoke works.
there's also maple virtual cables now.

i should also note that if you want to spend some cash (129$) , you should definitly check out MIDIOVERLAN CP (http://www.musiclab.com/products/rpl_info.htm).

it's a program like midiyoke , but more recent , with a friendlier interface , and most of all: LAN SUPPORT

--> you can send midi signals to other PC's on the network !!!
- run a laptop as dedicated software sampler / synth / stepsequencer / ...
- sync up 2 ableton's so you can jam with a friend
- ...

and all this without any midi cables
