Friendly greetings!
I'm enjoying Ableton Live very much and glad to be here with all of you. I'm looking for a visualizer, perhaps an AU/VST plugin, that displays which MIDI keys are pressed clearly, in the form of a traditional piano keyboard where the keys glow. I know some VSTs have a little keyboard but they're usually too tiny — I'd like something smoothly scalable, along the lines of how I can do it in MainStage.
My goal with this is to make some instructional tutorials and have fun — any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I forgot to mention, I'm on Mac! As I mentioned, I know plugs like Kontakt have a little keyboard, but it's not sufficient in scope for my plans.

hi
as i'm fooling with some chord and scale pitch effects it would be pretty cool to see the processed midi data. so long i help myself with another blank midi track where i can "resample" the midi. that can get tyring. such an app where i can choose in the signal path and visually show it on a piano would be super cool for my needs. anybody knows of such an application? maybe the abes could integrate something like this? (pretty much like the tiny one in the midi effect rack chain but bigger!!!)
cheers
max

How about using just a MIDI Effect Rack?
The Key Zone editor of a MIDI Effect Rack displays which notes are currently being played.

You can make them bigger by right-clicking.
On OsX you could use MIDI-Keys

oh great. i didnt know that. maybe not enough for a video tutorial but for me the right-clicking is a big step forward
i will try "midi-keys" later
thanks a lot,

MidiKeys on Mac is great fun. Wish it showed all 88 keys but I wrote the author, thanks for the tip.
Made a little video with it.
Some of the other plugins look nifty but are only for Windows — hope they're of use to someone here.
Will have a look at the key zone editor!
Any more tips for scalable Mac on-screen keyboard which highlight played notes would be graciously appreciated.

And i'd love just such a device that i could label each key with the dummy clip that i've got mapped to it, that way i'd have quick visualisation of the effects i've got stored....
I WOULD LOVE THIS! (but i don't know the first place to start, would this sort of thing be able to be done in Max?) - Plus i'd like to extend it so that i could display an 8 x 8 grid that could be customer labelled and give feedback on screen....
Cheers

GTG Micro Keyboard 3 is nice. I was wondering if someone had created something like that.
