As good as any projects runs into memory problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a question, why can I work in a project save it many times and then sdkljfgsjklfgjkedkjdhgfjkshjf cant freaking open any of the saves!!!!!!! Out of Memory error! But the error isnt the memory at all its the error massage thats the freaking error here! Its realy a serious problem in the workflow!!!
Memory isnt full at all btw,, not even 1/3!!!!!! Is this gonna be fixed in 8.0.2 or do we have to switch back to ableton 7?
Is there a possibility that I can remove the first 10 min of music outside of ableton????? Plz help,, not loading vst folder result in crash... everything I try crash crash crash or memory crap error and I can only close the damn thing!!
New beta still not opening sets!

Re: As good as any projects runs into memory problems!!!!!!!!!!!
My config is:
winxp 64
Intel core i7 920
6GB
Ableton is sabotaging loading already at 1.7GB and no other programs running (2.3GB total with all other programs), the fun of it is long gone I have to say.
Why can i work in a set without problems and the day after I cant open any of the saves,,, warning tells me: There is not enough memory available (yeah right) Please save your set now and quit. But I cant do nothing at all, close warning... new one is there again! A lot of time and effort is wasted trying to work around bugs each week each day! Is this memory problem going to be solved,,, are you working on it or is this ignored?
I can put some more RAM in but with it only 1/3 loaded I dont see the use, or is there... If its a bug that I can work around only by putting eg 12GB in I will...

Hi Seviel,
sorry about your trouble. Please contact support@ableton.com, attach one of the sets that is giving you a hard time loading.
Just send us the .als, no audio files required.
Best,
Jörg

Re: As good as any projects runs into memory problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the reply but I dont see the use of sending a project as almsot 3/4 of all of my projects run into this memory problem... There is nothing wrong with the set, ableton 8 just has a huge memory bug and I hope you people are working on this, cause its realy is annoying when things you worked on for years stops to open!!!

Just maybe, sending the .als will help track that memory problem, so it's not a complete waste to at least send it off to Ableton.
I get your annoyance though. I'm having problems with Live 8 myself too (external clock not recognized, crackling on some synths) that has nothing to do with my set as far as I can see (it loaded fine in 7.0.10) but who knows... might be something they haven't come across yet.
So I did send an .als even though I'm convinced my set is not the culprit. Haven't heard back from them in a while after I sent it...

Re: As good as any projects runs into memory problems!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I worked out the problem myself: ableton can't load up huge sets... This is not a recources problem, this is just a bug...
and I found a solution:
1. delete half of the tracks you are working on and make a alternate savepoint. (yes with half your project)
2. when you starting up your project and ableton starts to give crappy memory bug "out of memory, please save your set and quit" (you cant
click nothing but warning, impossible to do anything, well saving a set before its fully loaded isnt that good suggestion either)
3. throw ableton out of the processes
4. load the savepoint with half your project and close it again (somehow ableton keeps the files in cache)
5. now your project that before didnt load will start up because ableton only has to load the other half of the set!
I don't send the project because almost any of my projects run into this, there is nothing wrong with the sets at all... Its ableton not able to load bigger sets at ones... If they make a big project for them selves they will find,,, you can work with it save it at many points.. But when cache is empty'd you can't open the sets anymore.
