The English Beat rule.
Elliott Smith Either/Or is filthy, but my favorite is probably X/O. He was a brilliant man, superb technician, gear freak, a great songwriter and the best guitar player I've ever seen (and I've seen Nels Cline and Johnny Greenwood many times). It was a show in Seattle with Quasi as his backing band and he played electric the whole time. No solos or anything, just perfect guitar playing, every note played perfectly, only what you wanted to hear. It was honest, it was graceful. Another one lost to drugs.

... Nice to see some Talk Talk fans here!

I almost made 'A Sides Besides' one of my 15, just for the track 'It's Getting Late In The Evening' (b-side to 'Life's What You Make It'), which is one of the best songs ever recorded.

(Not to mention Wire and OMD... good to see them both get a vote!).

It's very interesting to see what other folk here rate as their classic albums.
