I have never seen the response that Operator has generated from all the passionate users on the forum. It seems to have inspired the community in quite a unique way. For better or worse it looks like Operator is here to stay. Will I buy it? Proably not now but maybe down the line. I mean how many of us own more than one sampler or synth already, hardware or software. Everything brings its own unique flavor. Would I like it to be cheaper or free. Heck yeah , but who wouldn't.
If anything I think it signals something pretty cool in the evolution of Live. Been using Live since version 1 and back then the thing everyone wanted was midi. Now we have midi and much more. It will always be a never ending cycle of updates and upgrades, that's how software works. There is always going to be something someone feels is lacking or should be better or worse feels like they are owed (I'm guilty of it too).
Regardless I think what Live offers more then any other DAW is the ease of use and the ability to get musical ideas out quickly. I think the inclusion of Simpler and Impluse and now Operator bring in the essentials directly into Live with their own unique design and simplicity.
I have always found this forum to be informative and useful. I know some of us just have to nitpick things, that's cool. I think the name calling should just stop. I mean its only a friggin synth, so what if it shows up in the menu and you can't get rid of it (ignore it for now, maybe that will change later on). Just my two cents
