foot pedal w/ looper problem

Hey I'm using a Roland FS-1 foot switch through an Edirol PCR-50 to control looper in 8.01

Recording starts fine with one click. However I have to click twice to switch back to play mode. After it's in play mode, when I click once more it turns to overdub mode but only briefly, for like two seconds, before going back to play mode

Any suggestions?

hmmm looks like it could be a problem with the pedal. I've tried it in other DAWs and it's the same thing... And I've read that other people find you generally have to press it twice to get it to do anything... Nice one.

and yet ANOTHER addendum sorry.

If i assign the foot switch to a different function in live, say to turn track 1 on and off, it works fine with a single click. So yes, confusing
