In heaven with 7, and came crashing down to earth with 8

Post by sh49004 » Sat May 16, 2009 6:27 pm

I usually never sit in chat rooms, but it looks like if I had I would not have gotten 8. Let me start out by saying I love ableton and the setup of the program. I use VST plugins from komplete 5 and rewire reason as well. First off the program is slow. takes forever to load. I Crashes ALL THE TIME.... have a Pc that can easily do the job. Since live 8 is not that old, maybe this topic has not been beat to death. I jst want to know if I 'm the one, or is it that 8 is jst crappy. I mighty jst go back to using 7 (it is heaven). But hopefully the apc PLUS THE PEOPLE AT ABLETON NOT PUTTING OUT A PRODUCT AND SELLING IT THAT DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARDS OF THE EARLY PROGRAMS will change my opinion. We shall see.

It's still buggy as hell for me.

1) When I go to Quit, it crashes

2) It has frozen my Macbook Pro 10 times, requiring a hard reboot

No probs here either but I use very few third party plugins.

If I were you I'd take a very active part in the latest Live 8 beta test. Make accurate (if you can) reports when you crash as to what you were doing and what plugins you were running at the time and hopefully your problems will get sorted sooner rather than later. Remember to include detailed specifications of your hardware and software.

Best of luck with it, I always try and make sure I take part in the beta test of new Live versions as this helps to ensure that it all works well with my hardware.

no problems here, not a single crash. I don't use much 3rd party stuff either.

i'm also back to LIVE 7, Crash Hell with 8, (it crash when i quit too..)

Crash reports submitted to Support...

It's really the first time in 6 years, that i go back to a previous version..And i'm not the kind of person to complain...

I know ableton will fix that in a future update, :-)

I'm doing fine with it on windows xp and many 3rd party plugins.

Not to say I haven't had any problems whatsoever, but its nowhere near as bad as a lot of people on the forums are making it out to be.

Not to say you are lying, just saying that for some of us its working fine.

IMHO - switch back to 7 until you can sort out 8 in you spare time.

Having different versions (6, 7, 8 etc) as dif apps is a fantastic 'feature' of Live.

Also...

If you wish.. add your hardward spec to your signature, so we know what kit your using. If every post is with 'overclocked P4 and Vista' then solutions become obvious.
2.8ghz Quad Mac, Live 9.77, Remote25, Maschine 1, Fa-66 optical link, Samson 65a. Dog hair.. lots.

I'm happy with all the new sounds in 8. It is still a little bit buggy. The other day I was working in 3/4 time signatures in session view and it was buggy as hell. It isn't great with memory either. But I love Collision and I can't imagine life without it.
