Powerbook users: best interface for cueing?

M-Audio MobilePre USB didn't cut it, I don't want any mind-bending work arounds using Jack Tools and Soundflower. What's some good options under $350? Firewire Audiophile? Is there anything comparable?

i have the maya44 usb. that doesn't cut it either (build and sound quality)

there's a new edirol fa66 just been announced. seems to be a direct competitor to the m-audio device (which has has some driver issues recently...well if you're a macosx user).

if your getting m-audio,
check the bugs&problems forums before you do.
make sure that's the one you want to have.

I would stay away from it.
Was planning to get their midi interface,
but too much bad posts about it.

It's a PCMCIA interface.

PCMCIA based interfaces are as rock solid as PCI cards !!!

how is your audiophile firewire doing? on the mac?

i think many people use it wrong, going hotplugging, complaining about sleepissues and other things and than going to shout on forums that it's bad unit. not fair
m-audio admits that there are problems with these things. i think it's great that they do that...

My audiophile firewire is working fine in 10.3.8 with the old driver (1.2.4). I agree, Freddy, that people are probably hot plugging it when they shouldn't. I even contacted tech support via email and they got back to me within a couple of days. It's not the best on the market and I don't get the best latency, BUT it was cheap and it has been doing the job with just a few headaches. I've dealt with worse.

how's latency when recording? (track-over track etc...)

indeed, i get reply when mailing tech support 1 or 2days after i send the mail.

If you only need 2 outs (1-main, 1-cue), I would highly suggest the Indigo DJ - sounds great, low latency, very stable.
