Enable Trackpoint scrolling for Ableton on Thinkpads
Hey, those of you using Thinkpads with Ableton Live may have noticed that middle-button scrolling does not work in Live.
However, there is a fix. I've tried it on two Thinkpads, and it has worked perfectly.
1) Find the file tp4table.dat, it will be either at c:\Program Files\Lenovo\Trackpoint\tp4table.dat or at c:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\tp4table.dat
2) Back it up
3) Open it up, and add the following lines in the Pass 0 section (I added them at the end of Pass 0, before the Pass 1 rules)
; Ableton Live
*,*,Live 8.0.2.exe,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9
4) Restart
5) Presto, middle-button Trackpoint scrolling should be working in Live

This also works with the Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad travel keyboard, the one with TrackPoint and TrackPad built-in.

hmm,
i don't have that file unfortunately. i installed the trackpoint driver and i have a trackpoint tab in my mouse settings, but maybe i didn't install a separate app for it or something. darn.

It's in there somewhere - search your system for tp4table.dat - you've got to have either the Lenovo or the Synaptics driver. My travel keyboard is connected to a non-Lenovo system, and the Synaptics driver came in with Windows Update.gzifcak wrote:hmm,

well, it works for Reaktor, but not for OpenOffice apps. not a huge deal, i spend most of my time in Live and Reaktor anyway!
wow, so many little fixes for the annoying niggles that you think you just have to live with. this one and the keyboard input to VSTs have made my workflow much nicer.

Try this:
; OpenOffice.org
*,*,soffice.bin,*,*,*,WheelStd,0,9
