Hey gang,
You can listen to some of the sounds that the world's best sound designers made for the Nord Wave at there website. Check it out at http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Home
The Nord Wave Sounds EXACTLY like a synthesizer!!!
Big ups to Clavia (I love 'em, I really do) but this is the year 2009. How many technologies do we need to do that fat analog unison sound? Or how about a funky Rhodes type sound? What about that spaced-out clavi sound? Oh and those string/brass type sounds, you can't forget those.
The specs on the Wave look very cool. The potential is there (I think?) and the best Clavia can do is make their groundbreaking synth sound like their old groundbreaking synth that is 1.5 decades old now. I was expecting sampled waves put through the Nord engines to knock my block off.
I've done time with the brilliant MicroModular and that unit really pushed my sound design into different levels. I am still getting my head around the (older) V-synth but it is taking me into territories I have never considered before.
Synplant is next on my menu.
What I am getting at is I want our synth manufactures to start pushing the envelope harder. I don't want anything specific from Clavia or anyone else. I am really talking to all of the developers that may hangout in this forum.
This is my encouragement to go with some of your bad ideas that have little market potential. There is great value in instruments that inspire AND function. The latest thing that I am into is the Cohmpost freebie from Ohm Force. When I heard what it does, it was exciting and I started playing with Live's effects in a new way.
My rant is over. I will keep quiet for now.
Kindest regards to the community and thank you for your indulgence.

the problem with the nord wave is it's fixed architecture, they should have put their efforts into a modular g3 wave or something.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.
