Live 8.x Not Starting Up

So, all of a sudden Live 8 (both 8.0.1 and 8.0.2) have stopped starting on my machine. The splash screen comes on, then after the message "Initializing Application..." is shown on the splash screen, Live freezes, and won't start. Nothing has changed on my machine (Win XP, Intel Core Duo, 4 G RAM, 2.67 GHZ cpu). Live 7.x starts fine. Is there any logs or anything else I can look at?

Thanks, but that didn't work. The log file in the preferences directory also doesn't show any exceptions? Any other ideas before I write to tech-supp?

I was thinking of that too, also try 'hiding' your plug in folder by renaming it. BUT those wold be tracked by the preferences file.

No good on all accounts. I even tried uninstall, delete directories, and reinstall of 8.0.2, and it still wasn't good. Something is preventing Live from completely initializing, but I can't figure out what?

OK, found it. Actually the log file in the preferences directory was very helpful. I found this in there:

6018 ms. Database: Open file: 'C:\Documents and Settings\Mohsen\Application Data\Ableton\Live 8.0.2\Database\index.db'
6018 ms. Index: Failed [0x000c]: no such table: version

So I deleted the index.db file and now Live is able to complete loading.

Just downloaded live 8.02 demo to try...

Would freeze on opening (after demo authorization completed).

From this tread i guessed the template was fubar.
So dragged an old live 7 file unto the live 8 app, to force it to skip the template.
Live 7 file opened.. in 8. NP
saved as new template file.

ouch, my solution is not sticky, i.e. after I delete the index.db file, Live can start, but then after I close Live the next time around it hangs in the same place. This time though the log file does not contain any complaints about the index.db file.

Written to tech-support. Still wondering why this is happening.

OK, found it. The last thing I had done on this machine was to install drivers for the Canon MP620 wireless network printer. As soon as I uninstalled those drivers Live is now behaving correctly. Me thinks some bug is lurking around...

It wasn't so much the drivers as it was the network drive that the printer install had setup. I re-installed the drivers, disconnected that network drive and Live was happy now. Probably should be investigated, but I can print and use Live now.
