Good news for those who work with Mac & PC

Post by oblique strategies » Sat May 09, 2009 2:09 am

"MacRumors has learned that Apple's Boot Camp utility under Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will include Windows HFS+ drivers, which will allow Windows installations to read Mac OS X HFS+ formatted partitions."

I'm pretty pumped about 10.6...sounds like it might breathe new life into dual core machines that are a couple years old, even. If it allows me just one more effects-laden track, epic win.

If that's true, it would be great!
No need for Macdrive, Macfuse, NTFS-3G, and so on........

Errr, you'll still need NTFS-3G. 10.6 only includes HFS drivers for windows, not NTFS for OSX.

I believe that NTFS is proprietary to M$ and I don't think OSX will ever natively have NTFS write.

Just had to edit and say that Snow Leopard has to be the gayest name for a followup OS to Leopard. Makes me think of Access and the TI Polar... its somehow related to a cooler climate, so it must be COOLER in general!

Yeah, it's a little different than the rest of the point-whatever releases have been...they've said there aren't going to be many new features, because it's mainly a big performance upgrade.

I hope they make boot camp work with multiple partitions and external drives. Yeah though, the NTFS thing is also stupid. Parrallels gets over it by mounting the drive as a network volume.

lol! I see what you mean.

I used to work with an NT server called Snowball.

I'm hoping those rumors about changes to Finder and Spotlight are true. I hate it that a search in Finder always defaults to searching the whole computer instead of the damn folder I chose to search. Has to be a bug, cuz it don't make no damn sense.
