midi pitch problem

Post by patchdub » Fri May 22, 2009 1:12 am

hi folks. ever since i updated to 8 my midi keyboard plays in tune for about 10 minutes then all of a sudden jumps out of tune about 3 steps. is this a know problem or did my e-mu xboard conveniently shit the bed around the same time as i installed 8?

thanks

there's gotta be something else going on. electronics can change when they heat up, if they're OLD but this sounds fishy.

Hi Patch!

You say about 3 steps. That would suggest to me there might be some rogue pitchbend information in there somewhere. Hows the pitchwheel/joystick control on your Xboard? Is it possible it's a bit worn of dodgy? Easy to check, next time it faults jiggle the pitch control and see if it clears it.

otherwise...?

i thought there was some random pitch info being sent as well but never could find any signs of that. last night i borrowed an oxygen 8 and had no pitch problems. i thinks the culprit is the emu xboard. it seems like it is time to retire the emu, it has seen lots of use so i can't be too cranky at it.

paddy looking forward to seeing you here in sf! i am doing an opening set for ya.

thanks all for the thoughts.
