anti 'operator' ableton users.
sorry but,
you luddites are so far up you'r own arses you don't know you'v been born. Ableton has revolutionised creative audio productivity for the likes of me; and countless others.
so what if you don't like/want/need 'Operator', 'Ableton live' is by far is the most liberating software I have ever had the fortune to use. yeah, operator may not be the most imperative of updates from ableton, so what... what do you want? the messiah?

Even if you don't like Operator or it's price tag, I think most of us are ever grateful to the Abes for Live itself, and now we have a free bugfix update. Let's move on and get the lervvve back on this board.

so what the hell we all new that ableton WAS going to come out with more instruments since live 4, didn't we???
or did everyone expect that impulse and simpler would be the only live instruments? So live has come out with a new instrument to fuel NAMM, and the rest of our own desires. SO WHAT!!! You expect them to show off their bug fixes or the requests for improvements that you guys made at the show??? Why not a new peice to the equation? Somehow i dont think people at the show would understand the importance of a few bug fixes and such. So they gave us the next part of Live. We all new sooner or later it was going to come. You all act as if youve been abandoned by ableton. Im sure they are working on improvements for as we speak to fuel the rest of the year with, and i dont think that we should be all worked up. Certain small issues with live are the things that come to make the rest of the ableton year interesting.
I dont know about you guys, but i was always anticipating the day theyd add to the list of Live instruments. Now the day is here, and now that is ice is out of the way, and we can move on with whats to come for Live for 2005.

Not me, I use logic and Live. Logic pisses me off with it's proprietary instruments as well. I'm reaching for my NI kit more and more. It's really fucking great to be able to transfer presets and instruments between DAWs, and honestly the proprietary shit just isn't worth the effort IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I love Live and Logic, I just wish they weren't trying to corner the soft synth market as well as DAW market.
Amberience, not sure if your post was directed at me, but if so, my apologies - I wasn't meaning to say everyone should just shut the fuck up and be happy with what they've got. Far from it, it's good that everyone lets the Abes know what they want so the product and it's userbase can continue to grow and take over the world.
I just meant that hey, Operator may be a letdown for a lot of people here, but remember, you still have an incredibly powerful and revolutionary production tool in Live. Reasons to be cheerful, that's all!

As best as I can tell, nothing in the Live 4.1 update is forcing me to use Operator. It is there, but nothing is popping up and saying 'I'm sorry you cannot proceed until you use Operator'. That being said, I think the 4.1 update did much more than offer Operator. I think the stability has improved. Just my opinion.
i think calling me an arrogant tosser is uncalled for.

If people who are unhappy with how this is being sold to us don't voice their concerns I fear we are going to get this sort of thing happen every update.
I guess all I want to say is, for Ableton to make multiple downloads available on the update site, with or without instruments. I don't want to fire up Live and see a bit of advertising in the form of something i don't want, permanently bloating the code. Not to mention the fact that as a person STILL on 56k, I don't want to download a demo i don't need.
I don't care on this update but is the demo going to be present in every other subsequent bugfix?
As I've said in another thread, I like the synth, am I going to buy it? No way! All that will do is convince Ableton that they've done the right thing with the pricing and marketing method.
Just my very humble opinions here, I think Ableton have shot themselves in the foot and I for one am very, very surprised.
