Re: Ableton Live User Group BERLIN !!!
dont ask how, but we have a date at a place called Supersonic , in the area aka Kreuzkölln. the date is June 11th. a thursday, 3 weeks from now.
this place is a bar. with platy of room to sit. it has some pretty lousy sound system (nothing you'd expect from a bar with such name...) but we can just pimp it up with 2 extra active speakers to sweeten things up.
my idea is: to call all guys/(girls?) on board for an experiment in a mass, digital improv-jam. we can discuss how it should exactly be conducted, but the premise is simple: plug-and-play.
there will probably be nobody in this bar, on that date, besides us and people we invite. so its all there for us. bring cables long enough, so you could practically sit wherever you want and stream your sound into the mixer.
we can sync up via wireless, or just not...
and if it turns into a mess, we can stop and let us try out, one by one, our work-in-progress beats, synth wobbles or what ever.
so this time it's all about experimentation and i can promisse nothing more than that
also need to say, the place does not allow to get loud as in regular clubs. there is just one rather "boonkered" room in the middle of the bar where the sound could be louder.. we might consider just play inside and let the rest of the bar outside get the remote idea.
there is only one condition: we have to be many enough to make it happen. the bar wants to sell beers, and i dont want to advertise this event and turn it into a public gig. it should be ok if we are 20-30 . but if only 5 people chime in, we would have to call it off.
.. it might be possible to have a VJ jamming there with us!!!!! how crazy is that. but still need to have it confirmed.
so go and build your instrument . hope to see you all there!

great idea, count me in, if i don't have to work last minute...
how do you want to manage to merge 20-30 audio feeds, without a major mixing desk...? i mean i can bring our Midas H3000 from work...LOL

we have to see.. can somebody contribute his own private console? i personally have a very small one. we don't necessarily need a huge one as it's always possible to mix down 2 or even 3 laptops to 1 stereo output, through a single audio interface with multiple inputs.
a basic PA should be around the 50€ which we could share, but i still think i could get one for free somehow. it is f***ing berlin after all
Re: Ableton Live User Group BERLIN !!!
i'm excited to confirm participation of visual artist Marc Tiedemann, who will take part on our first ALUG Jam session and contribute some amount of atmosphere to wrap it all up the proper way.
this event just gets hotter! stay tuned
