Yes, I am new to ableton (6 weeks). This is a very frustrating program to try to use. I want to do the loop thing, however after endless hours of trying to figure it out, I find out that version 7 "lite" will not do this - loop trigger thing. All it will do is allow you to play thru your computers keyboard and make a few simple sounds - 4 times. Then you can add "only" 4 tracks of your guitar, vocals, drums etc. Practically worthless to me. Am I wrong?

You're using the Lite version. What do you expect?autocrow wrote:Yes, I am new to ableton (6 weeks). This is a very frustrating program to try to use. Too much, from what I gather.

Re: pissed off newbie
I gave my brother a Lite version (I had one from a hardware purchase).
In comparison to the full version, yes, it's very limited - but only because the full version is nearly limitless.
Think of Live Lite as a giant 4 track track and bounce down and there are a ton of options - or, try the full version demo, it's great!
PS: Yes, the Live Lite can loop.

Re: pissed off newbie
I'd highly doubt the LE version won't let you loop things.

msybe the Improvising with Loops or Recording Audio.
Live is pretty easy to use, be patient.

Re: pissed off newbie
why not just get the live 8 demo? Its the full program for 14 days, with all the new bells and whistles and what have you.

Yea, you guy's are right, I am expecting too much from the lite version. It came with my interface. The upgrade from lite to full, costs more than the interface did!
There are no loops in my library.

Is there an affordable upgrade path to the LE version and are the differences between lite and LE significant enough?autocrow wrote:Yea, you guy's are right, I am expecting too much from the lite version. It came with my interface. The upgrade from lite to full, costs more than the interface did!

Otherwise, I don't think you can go wrong with picking up Live... A couple years here now as a very happy customer.
Also be sure to check around for a great price to upgrade. Ableton.com seems to have much higher prices than other stores.
