When I open an existing .als-File, change something and save it, Live saves and then says
Cannot write c:\Documents and Settings\....\Ableton\Live 4.1\Preferences\undo.cfg
I can then click OK, when I try to quit Live, I get the usual "A program failure occured, try saving your work under another name" etc.
Anoyone else has this problem?

No, it doesn't help.
I open a liveset, move a parameter around so undo.cfg gets some data, save the file, quit Live and there's the failure. If I start Live again it often happens that is hangs completely, doesn't play samples from the browser etc.
But: I've narrowed the failure down to a possible cause, a synth-plugin called Iblit.
Because: If I open the liveset, move the cutoff of Iblit and quit, the failure occures.
If I do something else undo-able not related to Iblig, like copying a clip, the failure does not occure.
Is this possible?
