Overriding Default Ableton 8 Key Commands (OSX)?

Anyone know of a way to do this?
EG, removing the spacebar = play functionality and reasiging it?
Specifically I want to reasign the command that enters notes in "Step Record" mode, as I'm trying to find a way to devise a step-sequencer style controller using a qwerty keyboard and a hotkey app.
As the navigation and insert keys are the same, this creates problems in my shortcut setup.
Currently holding the desired note and pressing " -> " enters a new note.
Could this be changed to another key, say " ] " or similar using preferences or some sort of scripting?
