Midi Sync to another computer.

Post by noktrnl » Wed May 27, 2009 6:48 pm

Man what the deuce!!!!!

Im trying to Sync my macbook pro to a Mac Pro and We were able to sync up for about 10 solid minutes, without setting any midi delay before my drums started to drift.

Ive noticed this on my macbook, my friends Mac pro, and my 2 room mates macbooks.

How the hell can I solve this. The only reason I WAS planning on buying is to do live gigs with my pals by syncing up mutiple laptops (mainly macs)

Im very glad that I have not pulled the trigger on the suite + maybe a apc 40. I still have both of these fellas in my shopping cart, but until I can get synced with ANYONE, I know at least 2 people who will not be making this purchase.

So I guess my option would to use MTC? How the hell would I even set that up to control master tempo, seeing as MTC does not have tempo signal?

The Setup:

Macbook Pro, 2.4 GH unibody with 2GB ram hooked up to a Echo AudioFire2 with FW800 to FW400 cable.

I Have SPDIF OUT of the AF2 to a RME FF800 SPDIF IN,

I have Midi INTO the AF2 FROM the FF800

FF800 is hooked up to a Mac Pro desktop.

We have the MIDI OUT Sync Box ON, on the Mac PRO,

MIDI IN Sync Box is ON on my MBP.

All delays set to 0.

It was perfectly synced for about 10-15 minutes, then we stoped all audio, took a smoke sesh, then when we came back, BAM, shoes in a dryer.
