a suggestion how to end up rumours 'bout operator

Post by michi-k » Sun Jan 23, 2005 12:47 pm

dear ableton staff,

u say:
Operator is a powerful new instrument that brings an eclectic spectrum of sonic possibilities and musical inspiration to Ableton Live users.
So why only live users, why don't u built an original vst synth out of it that can be bought by every1 using vst instruments. If it is really as good as u say there should be no problem with the other competitors of software synths on the market and many users of other sequencersofts will buy it.
So the costs of developing can be divided through more users and u can make another price policy, let's say 150 Bucks for vst-version, 50 Bucks for live users. So u don't even stop rumours here u also get many new customers who are interested in yer products and maybe buy live, too someday.

nice weekend, all

You got 6 posts. All of them bitchin about the operator.

If you want to quote something from an article and comment about it.

Our aim was to create a truly unique and inspiring instrument that combined the sonic richness and character of hardware synthesizers with the power of Ableton Live.

You gotta understand if you make a NEW thread saying what has been said in countless other threads. that might come over as bitchin.

I just wish this forum would go back to 'normal'. Instead of everybody suggesting what Ableton should or could do.

But hoffman,

he does have a point. Its interesting to note operator isnt available as a 3rd party VST. If your company develops it and hails its greatness then wouldnt it be an idea to sell it to everyone?

I have looked on many other forums for a non Live users opinions on Operator and there is nothing anywhere that I have found. I would have liked that because an unbiased opinion can be useful.

Much has been said about operator over the past few days but all of it from Live users good and bad. The more Live users that buy operator the greater it will become. If this will be justified I dont know yet.

And for the record I like the synth but it is to expensive.

Well, its a tough one, really.

The prop's have their modules that can't be used anywhere, so does Orion, Logic, Cubase, etc.

I think its something to draw people to Live and it integrates very well with the sequencer. Its an "add-on" to Live, not a VSTi. I mean, you could say the same thing about all of the effect "plug-ins" that come with Live in the first place. Why can't we uses those in other hosts then too?

Its a product that is used to "expand" Live, not to be used with other hosts. Its like a car company that puts out accessories for a specific car. They don't make it so that that part fits on every car, just the specific one it was designed for.

That's Operator.
