Bing bang?

Could it be the begining or end of one of your drum hits or samples? Like a transient?

maybe moving the loop points where it starts the mixdown.

also scroll down as far as you can. It could be that you have the begining of sound "hit" on a track that you're not seeing i.e. forgot it was there...

Bing bang?

Could it be the beginning of our Universe?

This is obviously a result of the beta version of the Large Ableton Collider.

thanks for all your help,

however im still none the wiser

im now getting smaller bangs in other songs.... it sounds like some type of reverb effect, however im not using any reverb.... it sounds like its bouncing off something and the sound is there right at the start of the song.

ive tried to negate this by bringing down the volume of the song at the start, this seems to help a little but its not how i want to start a song.

I must be crap at mixing and mastering as most of my songs sound muddy in ableton...however in reason 4 they sound pretty good

What sounds specifically? Kick, snare, keys?
Do you have anything that carries through your loops (if that makes sense) - like an Arpeggiator?

What Ableton instruments are you using i.e. Operator, Simpler, Sampler, Impulse etc.?
Confirm your Preferences - Audio tab.

Those are the things I'd be looking at in Live.

Are you using .wav samples at high volumes or instruments like guitars and bass that you still have plugged into the mixer with the volume turned up?

If everything checks out then maybe its your ASIO or soundcard driver. Try changing the buffer size like 256 - 192.

Or your sample rate could cause some ugly noise if you changed it or its out of whack for whatever reason... I'm rollin 44.1kHz. If you record a song in 44.1kHz and then try to listen to it in 48kHz. You might hear some garbage. I don't know if I would describe it as "loud bang" but it would sound like shit if it would even work... Haven't inadvertantly juggled sample rates in a while.

**Maybe thats the other way 48 to 41... I keep seeing a pop up that says "You're sample rate has changed" in my mind's eye. Cubase vs. Ableton? I dunno you're confusing me its like I'm tryna think and there's this loud bang or somethin.

i get something like that if my soundcard driver doesnt have enough memory.

for me a reboot or closing some programs down usually helps.

You are a legend, I think this might be the problem?

I have my mic still plugged in and my guitar lead minus guitar plugged into my audio interface... even though i have not enabled record on the tracks they are on, it might still be causing some type of noise.... is that possible? ( that could be casuing me other problems in my mix as well)...see my other posts

how do i negate this? i dont want to be taking leads in and out of my audio interface...do i just turn them down?

well i will definatly check when i get home

if its not that i will put an example of the big bang up for all to listen

thanks so much i hope this is it as it has been bugging me and casuing all sorts of crap for me

Even if its not causing it... turn em down when you're not using them. You don't have to unplug your leads - that's lame.
It'll probably get rid of that annoying hiss that you've been wondering about too (assuming that you have... been wondering).

I've had this when using envelopes in Live 8, particularly on autofilter. Try making sure you draw a small slope to reset any automation you have in your clips.

I had a similar problem recently. When I'd move the position slider in media player or start a song, it would start out with a loud distorted noise. Also, the sound overall was a bit muddy and levels would change slightly on their own. It turned out that I ruined my sound by attempting to update my sound driver(realtek) a couple weeks prior. Removing the diriver didn't help, neither did using another soundcard. I did a clean install of windows and the problem was fixed. There might be an easier way but I was sick of messing with it.

you have compressed the hell out of your track instead of turning the faders down. the compresser has not kicked in fast enough to catch beat one.
