File, Edit, Insert, View, Options menus - NOT FUNCTIONAL

In at least one, but not all, of my Live sessions, the "File," "Edit," "Insert," "View," and "Options" menus are not functional.

They appear and behave normally when I click on them, except that they do not execute the command. I tried all of the commands in each menu and none of them work.

Also, Live crashes frequently when I work within the session in general.

I tried:
-opening the session in Live 4.04.
-restarting the computer
-shutting down the computer
-banging the table and cursing at the software

None of these worked.

My specs:
Live 4.1
OSX 10.3.7

This is a pretty hefty problem, as I have no further way of preserving or altering the work that I've done so far.

Any ideas concerning a)getting the menu commands to function, or b) preserving or transferring the work I've done so far in the session, would be greatly appreciated.
