Odd midi map pitch problem (version 8)

Post by audiojet » Tue Jun 02, 2009 3:24 am

I am a proud Version 6 owner and decided to take V8 demo for a spin. Love the new features, very inventive... but I noticed one feature that has worked fine through all previous versions until 8.

When I drag an audio file into session view to be midi mapped (transposed) across a handful of keys on my midi keyboard, all works well and accordingly (like it has over the years). That is until I record the notes I am playing into the arrangement view. When I play back what I have recorded, all the notes are pitched up a note or two from what I originally played and recorded. This is very strange, again I have never had this problem before. If I go back into session view and play the file that I have used to map across the keyboard it plays normally and then the sounds in the arrangement view play back fine (almost a temp reset). It almost seems like a sample rate issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem... I really don't want to feel alone. I have tried searching the forums for this problem but don't know how to word it. Hopefully this bug is in the works to be fixed. When this little bug gets fixed I will look at buying Live 8.

Thanks for your time

J

Hello,

Do you use 8.0.3?
Could you send me a small Live set where this is demonstrated?

best,
Christian

...just using Version 8 demo. This is a bug that happens in real-time. I am tearing my hair out trying to screen capture this with 3rd party software but having trouble. Hell I was even thinking of recording it with my BlackBerry and posting the video for you to see... not the best visuals but at least I can show you. Sending a Live set won't show the problem. Not sure what to do.

i just purchase live 8 and i have a similar issue.

example: i've recorded two midi tracks, drum and pad. i create a new track and pick and instrument. i strt to play along with the other tracks or record while they are playing, and at first everything is fine, but after a while the pitch of my new instrument is lowered 2 notes. the things is, i thought maybe it was something i did, say with one of the knobs on my synth, but it doesn't seem to be that, unless my synth is sending messages to ableton without me doing anything. i even switched what synth i used for midi controller (from alesis ion to microkorg, and in different files/songs) and i experience the same issue using it. it seems random! it doesnt happen in every song, but when it happens that song is basically garbage because i cannot get it out of that mode. it is so frustrating.

please help with this.
