cutting a mix into tracks for promo cd's???
i have a few one hour long mixes ive recorded into ableton 4.0, and i have no problem rendering to disc to make hour long demo mixes, BUT,
i would like to know how to cut my mixes into tracks, so i can burn a mix cd with distingishable tracks, so my promoters dont have to "fast forward" through an hour long continuous mix to hear different tracks and blends.
i am using m-audio 1814 firewire, winxp, 3 technic 1200's, and a djm-600 pioneer mixer,,,,,,,my hour long mixes are excellent, and sound great, i just want to split the mixes up into separate tracks, so a continuous mix can be flipped through quickly by tracks on standard cd player..but still flows non-stop track to track..
email me directly if this needs a long reply, or call me directly at (740)681-1678, if i need a walk through.thanks for any help!!!!!..i cant find any how to's in the book that came with my software,
dave

Am I reading this thread wrong?
I think you want your tracks Indexed within the mix Just like a commercial CD so the listener can skip to the next track
Is so I find the responses to your query very strange because none of teh suggestions would work. Of course I maybe picked up the thread wrong?
Use CD architect from Sound Forge or something similiar and voila...

yes, exactly, a commercial cd type track selection,,,,,,,,and i will check out getting cd architect...............
i just cant believe ableton doesnt offer that as an option, .i mean, its supposed to be dj friendly,,,,,,,,and what dj doesnt want to split their super long mixes into tracks for cd's???........

well, by that logic, live should be able to master the output, burn the file to disc, and design a cover for the cd as well. Just like you are using 1200's and a mixer, doing a cue sheet needs to be done elsewhere.dj_morphunk wrote:yes, exactly, a commercial cd type track selection,,,,,,,,and i will check out getting cd architect...............

I can definitely recommend using cd architect. It's now integrated into soundforge 8, and I think it's worth the dough - if you have it.
-Live's still a great program - "for what it does".
Regards,
Andreas.
It is not DAW job but of CD burning program. It is easily done in Wavelab, I suppose any burning program allows you to put the markers as you like. I am not talking any editing function of Wavelab but simply the CD burning part, must be similar in Soundforge, Audition but also Nero, "CDwhatever the name".
I see now that is what you are looking for. CD architect is really easy to use and is exactly what you are looking for, but its pricey. Maybe theres a time limited demo available? If not CD architect Im not sure which one to go for. Maybe someone else has an idea.?dj_morphunk wrote:yes, exactly, a commercial cd type track selection,,,,,,,,and i will check out getting cd architect...............

You cant really expect Ableton to include this feature. Although it would be very cool if it was there. But no Daw to my knowledge offers this as part of the program.
Remember with CD architect you can use VSt and DX plugins in real time which is handy for getting your CD to sound good and loud.

i dont know if it would be good enough, but if i was trying to do what you want to do i'd try opening the mix up in soundforge, cut the it up into the tracks you want and save each one as a separate file, then i'd burn them in nero and select the no pause between tracks option. maybe?
Hi I do this but leave short gaps....
